This is the second installment of my new Sunday Summary- things I found this week that I love!
As I write, I am drinking my new favorite tea…well it is a combination of teas. All of them are Rishi brand teas. Currently I have Pu-ehr, Tangerine Ginger and Green Tea loose leaf. The mixture is uplifting and earthy- a perfect pick me up in the middle of the day.
One thing I continually work on with my students is how to focus on the positive. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be positive and bubbly all the time- that is impossible- but it is about paying attention to the way in which you view the world. Here is an article I recently handed out to my students about complaining and the benefits of complaining less.
Along these lines, I highly recommend this book: A Guide to the Good Life. It is a quick but powerful read on the ancient art of stoicism and how it can influence us today. (I promise- it isn’t the definition of stoicism most of us are familiar with).
A new and fun little addiction I have is hula hooping. Yes. Really. I bought my hula hoop from Canyon Hoops although there are lots of places to get one. I am one of those people that has a really hard time turning my mind off. It takes so much concentration to hula hoop, I can’t think of anything else. Plus, it is a good workout. I don’t remember it being this hard when I was younger! Just for kicks, check out this video. This girl is crazy good at hooping!
Finally, I am always looking for ways to improve how I teach. I found a great website called Edutopia. All though it is geared for younger students, many topics are still applicable to adult learners. If you teach or know a teacher, this an excellent resource to share.
I hope everyone has a great week. I am off to make this deliciousness.
